Active Content & Action

Abamectin 2.0 g/L. Abamectin is part of the Macrocylic Lactones group of chemicals. It works by interrupting the nervous systems of parasites, leading to paralysis and eventual death.

Use

For the treatment and control of abamectin sensitive strains of internal parasites (including benzimidazole, levamisole and morantel resistant strains) of sheep and itch mite and nasal bot of sheep including:

Adult and Immature Gastrointestinal Roundworms:

  • Haemonchus contortus – Barbers pole worm (including inhibited L4 stage)
  • Haemonchus placei – Large stomach worm
  • Ostertagia circumcinta – Small brown stomach worms (including inhibited L4 stage)
  • Trichostrongylus axei – Stomach hair worm
  • Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichostrongylus vitrinus – Black scour worm
  • Cooperia curticei, Cooperia oncophora – Small intestinal worm
  • Nematodirus spathiger, Nematodirus filicollis – Thin necked intestinal worm
  • Chabertia ovina – Large mouthed bowel worm
  • Oesophagostumum columbianum – Nodule worm
  • Oesophagostomum venulosum – Large bowel worm
  • Trichuris ovis – Whipworm
  • Strongyloides papillosus  – Intestinal threadworm

Also Treats and Controls:

  • Dictyocaulus viviparus – Large lungworm
  • Psorergates ovis  – Itch mite
  • Oestrus ovis  – Nasal bot

Period of Protection

This is a short acting product and can only be expected to work where resistance is not prevalent. Always conduct drench resistance testing and seek veterinary advice if you are concerned for livestock wellbeing. 

Dosage and Administration

FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

Dose the mob to the heaviest animal by liveweight in each group (ewes, wethers, rams and lambs). Do not underdose.

A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment either with scales or weighband. Where there is a large variation in size within the group, dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range. Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate, to avoid excessive overdosing.

Safe to use on pregnant and non-pregnant animals of any age when used as directed.

Dose sheep and lambs at 1mL/10Kg body weight.
